Job : Assistant Accountant

The Open Institute is a local Cambodian NGO which supports the social and economic development of Cambodia by working in three major fields: gender equity, development of research capacity and information technology development.


The Open Institute runs three programs to help attain these objectives:

  1. The program “Structuring Partnerships for an Innovative Communications Environment” (SPICE) is an exciting initiative funded by USAID to help raise the technological level of the country through the use of mobile phones.
  2. The Women's Program supports the development of gender equality in Cambodia.
  3. The Research Program helps develop Research capacity in Cambodian universities.
  4. Administration and accounting for these programs is done at the highest standards, following strict policies and procedures. To support their implementation, the Open Institute is now looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Accountant.

 

Assistant Accountant

The Assistant Accountant will:

  1. Record all transactions in the accounting system.
  2. Prepare documents for the payroll and the payment of taxes and social security.
  3. Follow procedures to ensure that payments take place as required, including all the required documents, ensuring that each transaction and payment has the necessary approval and justification, applying the organization's financial policy.
  4. Assist in the preparation of bank and petty cash reconciliation reports, as well as monthly and yearly financial statements by project and for the whole organization and financial reports for donors.


Qualified candidates for Assistant Accountant will have:

  1. A university degree on accounting or finance.
  2. At least one years of experience as account assistant in a company or NGO, performing the tasks listed in the job description above.
  3. Have experience on the use of the Quickbooks accounting system or a similar system.
  4. To be able to communicate about the job in English.
  5. Be able to travel to provinces 4 to 6 times per year.


The position will be based in Phnom Penh.
