Gender Specialist

The Open Institute is currently seeking interested qualified candidates to fill a position of Gender Specialist for its Women's Program. The main mission of the Women's Program is to support the Ministry of Woman's Affairs in the creation of a Gender Observatory that will keep government and society informed on the development of formal and real social and gender equality in Cambodia.


The Gender Specialist will participate in leading research on the impact of gender policies and in the development of evaluation and monitoring tools for such policies, while referencing and classifying - with the support of research assistants - all gender research that has taken or is taking place in Cambodia.


Job Description

  1. Support the Program Manager in the execution of the project "Preparation of a Gender Observatory in Cambodia", helping reach the goals and results of the project as defined, and therefore creating a research system that will allow the Ministry of Woman's Affairs to track the development of gender policies and issues in Cambodia.
  2. Participate in the definition and organization of gender indicators related to the existing gender policies of Cambodia.
  3. Analyze and write about the development of gender policies in Cambodia from 1993 to present.
  4. Participate in any research on gender organized by the Open Institute, or on the analysis of existing researches.

Requirements:

  1. Academic training on gender, or broad experience working on gender issues.
  2. Experience in research.
  3. Experience in working with the Ministry of Woman's Affairs will be valued.
  4. Experience on project management, monitoring and evaluation will be valued.
  5. Fluent in Khmer and English, spoken and written. Capable of writing reports in both languages.
