The Open Institute is a local Cambodian NGO that supports the social and economic development of Cambodia by working in information technology for development.
 
The Open Institute is working on several exciting programs in which technology is used to improve the functioning of Cambodia's health system and support the delivery of better health services, prevent human trafficking, or develop educational games to help grade 12 students pass the final exam. The Open Institute works with the latest technologies available, developing connected server-based and Android-based applications that will facilitate data collection and data access, resulting in systems that help Cambodians have a better life.
 
The Open Institute is looking for qualified candidates to fill 2 positions as Software Developer.
 
The selected Software Developers will join a knowledgeable and experienced collaborative team with wide experience on developing on the Android and open source web environments (PHP, MySQL, Java, etc.). The team has wide experience on phone/backend connectivity that it uses in most of its projects. It works together to train the new software developers and to ensure that they are able to be productive for the projects as fast as possible, quickly acquiring new skills that will increase their professional value. The new staff members will be working on some of the most innovative software projects in Cambodia, finding new ways to solve social problems.
 
 
 
A qualified Software Developer must fulfill the following requirements:
 
·       Have a degree in Computer Science (Masters preferred).
 
·       At least two years of experience programming PHP or Java applications.
 
·       Being familiar with the Linux operating system and open source work environments. Experience on programming in Android will be highly valued.
 
·       Good English skills.
 
·        Strong teamwork spirit. Willingness to share knowledge and learn new skills for social change.
